Innovative Friction Bearing
The further development of the friction bearing technology is essentially determined by research and development regarding tribological processes, the development of new materials as well as the sliding surface design using laser and coating technologies. The network aimed at further developing friction bearing technology under these aspects. This particularly included the development of new materials, technologies and techniques as well as training measures for employees.
This network concentrated capacities for developing innovative solutions for customer-specific bearings, for creating the technological requirements for the manufacture of semi-finished bearings and for introducing them into production. Several small and medium-sized enterprises and research partners collaborated to solve these problems. The “Innovative Plain Bearings” network was funded as Network Management East (NEMO) project under the federal Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM).
